Abstract:
Although well-known, the math problem about the snail which crawls up during the
day in order to get out of a well, but slips down during the night is still full of surprises in terms of mathematical ideas. In particular problem posing an unexpected necessity of using astronomical calendar is justified. This widens the educational potential of the problem and makes it attractive for both students and teachers. Graphical representations prepared in
GeoGebra dynamic mathematics environment aid inquiry-based learning.
