Abstract:
An analysis of pedagogical characteristics of educational computer games (ECG) is
performed. These characteristics are strongly related to learning content, learning objectives
and outcomes, educational activities that could be implemented through the ECG, level of
application of game in the educational process – micro and macro, profile of the learner, etc.
The discussed characteristics are in the ground of design of scenarios and game mechanics;
choice of development environment and tools. According to these characteristics a prototype
of an ECG for primary school is developed and presented in the paper.
