Abstract: The article presents a study in the field of digital humanities, dedicated to the genre of science fiction, which is one of the most popular in the world and Russia. The assumption is that there should be trends or similarities between highly rated books and also that certain descriptive characteristics could be particular to a specific subgenre. The comparative analysis of the chosen subgenres is made and some tendencies in acquired data from statistical analysis of reader groups and their preferences and topic modelling of the annotations of the books are outlined.
